2020-2021 Magalog Coloring Contest Winners

Breyer's 2020-2021 Magalog Coloring Contest page featured one of our 70th anniversary assortment models - the Fighting Stallion! In this image, he is rearing up on the shores of a beach. We had SO many amazing entries come in over the last year, and as always, choosing a mere three winners was a challenge!

Each entry was judged on both creativity and coloring skills. There were three age categories: 10 and under, 11-16, and 17 and up, and the winner in each category will receive a Traditional 70th anniversary model as their prize, selected at random!

Here are our winners:

10 and under winner

Eva J., GA

Eva's entry features a beautiful dapple grey stallion enjoying a sunset at the beach! The colors in this entry just pop, especially the "lens flare" of the sun in the background. The shading on the horse is also top-notch, and truly an achievement for this age group! Beautiful work!

11-16 winner

Emily B., PA

The icy coldness of this piece sets a perfect scene. Is our horse a ghost? A water spirit? A white stallion with the sea and moonlight reflecting off his back? The color and composition of this entry, along with the carefully-applied brushstrokes of paint, set it apart from others we received. Great job, Emily!

17 and older winner

Ashlee M., IN

An air of mystery hangs heavy over this piece, and we are here for it! This stallion reminds us of the various water horses sprinkled through folklore, with the slightly greenish tinge in his mane and tail. A lightning storm rages in the background, kicking up the waves and seagrass. In the foreground we are presented with a mysterious message in a bottle, and the seaweed around it suggests that it just washed ashore... what might it say?

Like the winner in our previous age category, this entry has quite the story to tell, which is what made it so compelling to us. Fabulous work, Ashlee!
