April 2024: Lesson Learned

Hi, I'm Kristian! I'm a longtime collector and you may know me as a tackmaker and blogger! I love replicating different types of tack into miniature scale and using it for performance showing.

I was so excited when I was asked to judge this Photo Show! I so enjoyed each interpretation of what a “lesson learned” is. From ground lessons, to riding lessons, and falling off, each entrant brought creativity to their scene. I was impressed with not only the entries but also the great fun everyone seemed to have. Congratulations to everyone!

 

 

17 and Under

1^st place:

Leah A., IN

I love all of this! This is a nice choice of model, with nice fitting tack. I love the angle of this with a nice faded background. Great job!

 

2^nd place:

Lily C., UT

This is such a nice lunging lesson. I like the arena with the grass outside. The Fjord is a great model to use and both dolls seem focused on their task!

 

3^rd place:

This image shows multiple parts of riding lessons. From mucking out the stall, to grooming, this is a nice image of a barn. The choice of models is great too!

What a great caption and scene this is creating. The angle of the models works well for this scene.

This was a good choice of model with lovely scenic background – love the rainbow! Good placement too.

What a pop of color! This is a great trick riding entry. This has a great composition and the model’s color really goes well with the pink tack and outfit!

18 and Over

1^st place:

This is such a nice image with great presentation. The addition of the instructor coaching the rider through the obstacle really rounds out this well put-together photo.

 

2^nd place:

I love everything about this photo, particularly the details – from the Riding 101 board to the posters and grooming tote, this feels like a real barn.

 

3^rd place:

What a nice scene! I like the fence and props in the background. The model is a good choice and the dolls are positioned well.

 

5^th place:

Alli B., VA

This scene is so fun. I love the swapping of disciplines of the two riders. Each horse is very appropriately fitted to its tack!

 

6^th place:

Lauren S., CA

This image tells a whole story and is a great use of the Connemara Mare mold. Not all riding lessons take place on a horse – sometimes you find yourself on the ground!
