Summer Breyer Fun Day at the World Equestrian Center!
Meet a relative of Surfer's Riptide and more at WEC on Saturday, May 17th!
On Saturday, August 15th, Breyer portrait horse Sir Rugged Chex – known by many as simply “Checkers” – stopped by Tack Room Too in Olympia, WA for an outdoor meet and greet with fans. Owners Lee and Mark Bolender appeared at the event, alongside their granddaughter Wyatt who acted as Checkers’ handler for the day. Checkers and the Bolenders are Washington natives themselves, and Checkers’ unique sport of Mountain Trail is popular among horse owners in the rugged terrain of the Pacific Northwest.
Checkers and Wyatt
Breyer fans young and old stopped by the shop to meet Checkers, get their models signed, and snap a photo. The Boldenders mentioned that they were sad that BreyerFest needed to go virtual this year, but they were all smiles in the video content they submitted! This included a highly-entertaining interview, along with a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at how a Mountain Trail horse is trained which could never have been possible on-site.
This daring chestnut Quarter Horse quickly became a fan favorite during BreyerFest weekend, and we look forward to seeing him at the event in the future!
