A New Pair for Mid-Year 2026!
New releases coming soon to BreyerHorses.com and a retailer near you!
Have you wanted to try model horse showing, but don’t know where to start? The BreyerFest Children’s and Youth Shows are a great way to get into it!
This show is a great introduction to the world of the model horse hobby, specially geared towards our younger BreyerFest attendees with the Children’s Show for ages 4 to 12 and the Youth Show for ages 13 to 16. You do not need any experience to enter! Just a love of Breyer horses and a willingness to learn.
In the Children’s and Youth Shows, models can compete in either Halter or Performance classes.

In Halter, all you need is a model! Horses are judged on conformation, correctness, condition, and how well they represent the breed that you’ve assigned them for the show. Add a little bit of research to assign them a breed (it does NOT have to be the breed the Breyer assigned that model if you can provide backup for your selection) and come up with a cool “show name” for your horse! Repeat that process a few more times and you’ve got a show string!
For the Performance division, you’ll add tack, riders, and props to create a scene depicting any manner of different equestrian disciplines. Your scene is judged like a snapshot of that equestrian event, judges look at the correctness and suitability of the horse, rider, tack, and props.

There are also some fun classes as well, including a chance to show off your artistry with customs you have painted, your “Most Loved Model”, non-equine animals, and the class that everyone will have a horse for, the Celebration Horse Class! This year, that class is only open to Corgi Hill Flinka models. Learn how the judges differentiate between 30+ seemingly identical models!
If you’re interested and want to learn more, take a look at the Children’s and Youth Show Packet. If you’re new to Model Horse Showing, check out our Showing blog. There is also a forum specifically for registered Children’s and Youth Show entrants to ask those burning questions and get tips from others. The show hosts are committed to making this a fun and positive model horse showing experience for all!
