The Third Release in the 2021 Premier Collection
Breyer’s Premier Collection is known for bringing new breeds to life in exquisite form! A pairing of top talent in finishwork and sculpting, Premier Collection models feature incredible detailing on stunning new sculptures.
The American Paint Horse is one of the most recognizable horses in the US today, and has been gaining popularity around the world. Versatile stock horses, their intelligence and athleticism have made them indispensable to working ranches. Their unique and flashy appearance garners attention wherever they are, so it’s no surprise that today’s Paints can also be found in many disciplines outside of the Western arena.
This sweet mare and foal pairing is the creation of artist Morgen Kilbourn. Morgen is no stranger to the Premier Collection, having introduced several new and dynamic sculptures over the years. A horsewoman and lifelong artist, Morgen is able to lean on her real-life horse experience to lend her pieces the realistic look she’s known for. Her skill at bringing stock horses to life is evident in this set. She shares, “This foal's sassy side reminds me greatly of some fun babies I've raised and trained. I adore the cheeky way they strut trying to entice someone to play with them.” Ever the patient mama, Firefly appears a moment away from an afternoon’s nap in the sun – the opposite of her playful filly’s antics! You can almost feel the early spring sunshine and fresh grass that energized the foal and gave the mare such a contented expression.
Thoughtfully detailed, Morgen gave both Firefly & Hawkeye sabino coats. Firefly’s sweet expression is complemented by the natural “eyeliner” that’s sometimes present in Paint horses, while the underside of Hawkeye’s coat still shows a hint the soft, faded coloring that is common in a foal’s baby coat.
